So finally our prime minister has called an election! The next few weeks will be filled with claims and counterclaims, promises and more promises. Economics, politics, education, health issues and countless other topics, will be discussed and dissected in a mad scramble for votes. And at the end of it, when May 6th has been and gone, and parliament has once more assembled, the essential issue, the one that lies at the very root and fabric of our society, will have been barely mentioned. I speak of the Christian ethics and moral laws, which have formed the bedrock of our society for generations. Unfortunately, in the name of human rights and political correctness, anything Christian is for the most part treated with contempt. Liberal manipulation of God given moral standards, has relegated such to the history books and given licence for unrestrained sexual promiscuity, which is destroying relationships, wrecking family life, and leaving children without the double security of both father and mother in the bonds of marriage. We can complain about intemperate youth, disobedient children, undisciplined schools and broken society, but until our politicians accept that the erosion of marriage, the acceptance of sex outside marriage, the open disdain shown for once sacred beliefs and the abandoning of our Christian heritage and values, lie at the heart of the problems, we can expect no real advancement where it matters. Maybe somewhere, hidden in the ranks of prospective parliamentary candidates, there is someone with the character and courage to be a voice for God in the Palace of Westminster. I pray so!
