Must Preach The Gospel

I am sitting in the spring sunshine of Barcelona, at a table outside the Farggi Café on the cities Plaza de Cataluña. I am amazed by the number of different nationalities and cultures represented in the people who pass by. People from North, Central and South America, walk shoulder to shoulder with Indians and Spaniards. Chinese and Africans mingle with people from a cross-section of European countries. Bulgarian beggar women jostle with wealthy business people. There are rich and poor, students and old people, the strong and the weak. This is the cosmopolitan city of Barcelona, capital of Cataluña. One thing unites them all. Each one of these, is a soul for whom Christ died. Each one is intimately known and loved by the omnipresent third Person of the Trinity. Each soul’s eternal destiny is paid for in full by the precious blood of Jesus.

I look into their faces. I am conscious that I will never see them again. I have information that they all need and I cannot give it to them. I personally know the One who can guide them to eternal freedom. I want to gather them together and tell them of the great love of God. I feel that it is my responsibility. “Woe is me, if I preach not the Gospel.” I am leaving for home today; but I will return and tell thousands of these people about Jesus. I must! “I am debtor to preach the Gospel” to this sea of lost humanity. This wave has passed me by, but another wave will come and I must be ready.
